The Inflation Reduction Act (which goes into effect January 1, 2025) is significantly impacting Medicare beneficiaries. Some outcomes will be positive as it is putting a maximum out-of-pocket on Part D Prescription Drug Costs at $2000 as well as a payment plan throughout the year to smooth prescription costs.

However, it will negatively impact many others, because plans had to change benefits and or premiums to accommodate for the maximum out-of-pocket. Other significant changes this year are due to important network changes and some companies pulling out of counties or significantly changing their benefit structure. As always, your needs are unique to you and there’s no such thing as “a best” plan.

Most years only 25% of people explore their options, this year 90% will be exploring appropriate solutions.

I’ve always approached Medicare plans as a year-by-year basis and this year is more important to get a review done more than ever. This year and next year will see many more changes than the previous 15 years I’ve been doing this.
